For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Answer

One thing that can be said about this text is that our Lord and Savior believed that there was such a person in history as Jonah, and that he did survive the ordeal of being swallowed by the fish. The question is, what did Jesus mean by these words? Some take it to mean that Jesus would spend exactly three days and three nights (72 hours) in the grave. But no theory put forth so far has been able to prove this. It should be noted that of all the Gospel writers, Matthew is the only one in this instant that makes this statement. All the other times he and the other writers say, “the third day," "after three days, “in three days," "on the third day" and "after the third day" (Matthew 16:21; 17:22, 23; 27:63, 64; Mark 8:31; 9:31;10:31;Luke 9:22; 11:30; 18:33). The key to this riddle is not on the precise amount of time, but rather on the miracle of rising again. Heretofore, no man had ever been able to raise himself back to life. Jesus proclaimed he could do it to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was whom he claimed to be, “the divine Son of God. “On the day of the resurrection the angel proclaimed, “He is not here: for he is risen, as he said"(Matthew 28:6). And in John 20:9 it says, “For as yet they knew not the scriptures that he must rise again from the dead."

According to the scriptures Jesus resurrected just before dawn on the first day of the week(Matthew 28:1,Mark 16:9).The angel declared: “Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again"(Luke 24:7). It was on this "same day" (verse 13) that two disciples made their way to Emmaus. In response to Jesus' inquiry (not knowing that it was him),"they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people: And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crouched him. But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, today is the third day since these things were done" (Luke 24:19-21).Notice that they clearly state, “today is the third day since these things were done" They include the condemnation, the crucifixion, and the resurrection of Christ. Then Jesus very clearly

Declares, “Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day" (Luke 24:46). If it were imperative to have Jesus in the grave for 72 hours, then he would have to be placed in the tomb on Thursday morning around 5:30 a.m., given that this is 72 hours backtracking from His resurrection. This does not make any sense. The only logical explanation is that of the Hebrew way of calculating time. Any part of a day is considered a day.(See Genesis 4:17-19;Esther 4:16;5:1;2 Chronicles 10:5,12;1 Kings 18:9,10,46.) Thus Jesus died on Friday, and then performed the greatest miracle ever for the hope of mankind-He resurrected on Sunday breaking the portals of the tomb!

သမ္မာကျမ်းစာအရ၊ ယေရှုခရစ်တော်သည် တနင်္ဂနွေနေ့ (ပထမနေ့) နံနက်မိုးလင်းခါနီးတွင် ထမြောက်တော်မူခဲ့သည် (မဿဲ ၂၈:၁၊ မာကု ၁၆:၉)။ ကောင်းကင်တမန်က “လူသားသည် အပြစ်ရှိသောလူတို့လက်သို့ အပ်နှင်းခြင်းကိုခံရ၍၊ လက်ဝါးကပ်တိုင်တင်ခြင်းကိုခံရ၍၊ တတိယနေ့၌ ထမြောက်ရမည်ဟု မိန့်တော်မူပြီ” (လုကာ ၂၄:၇) ဟုကြေညာခဲ့သည်။ ဤ “တနေ့တည်း” (အခန်းငယ် ၁၃) တွင်ပင် တပည့်နှစ်ပါးသည် အမ္မအရပ်သို့ ခရီးထွက်ခဲ့ကြသည်။ ယေရှု၏မေးမြန်းချက်ကို ဖြေကြားရင်း (ထိုသူသည် ယေရှုဖြစ်ကြောင်း မသိကြသေး)၊ “ထိုသူတို့က၊ နာဇရက်မြို့သား ယေရှုအကြောင်းကို ပြောကြပါသည်။ ထိုသူသည် ဘုရားသခင်နှင့် လူအပေါင်းတို့ရှေ့၌ ကျေးဇူးတော်နှင့် နှုတ်ကပတ်တော်အားဖြင့် တန်ခိုးကြီးသော ပရောဖက်ဖြစ်ပါသည်။ ထို့အပြင် မင်းကြီးများနှင့် ကျေးဇူးရှင်များသည် ထိုသူကို သေဒဏ်စီရင်ရန် အပ်နှင်းခဲ့ကြပြီး၊ လက်ဝါးကပ်တိုင်တင်ခဲ့ကြပါသည်။ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့မူကား၊ ထိုသူသည် အစ္စရေလကို ရွေးနှုတ်မည့်သူဖြစ်မည်ဟု မျှော်လင့်ခဲ့ကြပါသည်။ ထို့အပြင်၊ ဤအရာများဖြစ်ပြီးသည်မှာ ယနေ့သည် တတိယနေ့ဖြစ်ပါသည်” (လုကာ ၂၄:၁၉-၂၁) ဟုပြောကြသည်။ သူတို့သည် “ယနေ့သည် ဤအရာများဖြစ်ပြီးသည်မှာ တတိယနေ့ဖြစ်ပါသည်” ဟု ရှင်းလင်းစွာပြောဆိုကြသည်။ ထိုအရာများတွင် ယေရှု၏အပြစ်စီရင်ခြင်း၊ လက်ဝါးကပ်တိုင်တင်ခြင်းနှင့် ထမြောက်ခြင်းတို့ ပါဝင်သည်။ ထို့နောက် ယေရှုက “ဤသို့ရေးထားသည်အတိုင်း၊ ခရစ်တော်သည် ဒုက္ခခံရမည်၊ သေခြင်းမှ တတိယနေ့၌ ထမြောက်ရမည်” (လုကာ ၂၄:၄၆) ဟု ရှင်းလင်းစွာ မိန့်တော်မူသည်။ အကယ်၍ ယေရှုကို သင်္ချိုင်းတွင်အတိအကျ ၇၂ နာရီထားရန်လိုအပ်ပါက၊ ထိုသူသည် ကြာသပတေးနေ့နံနက် ၅:၃၀ တွင် သင်္ချိုင်းတွင်ထားရမည်ဖြစ်ပြီး၊ ဤအချိန်သည် သူ၏ထမြောက်ခြင်းမှ ၇၂ နာရီပြန်ရေတွက်ခြင်းဖြစ်သည်။ ဤအရာသည် မည်သည့်အဓိပ္ပာယ်မှမရှိပါ။ တစ်ခုတည်းသောယုတ္တိရှိသောရှင်းလင်းချက်မှာ ဟေဗြဲလူမျိုးတို့၏အချိန်တွက်ချက်နည်းအတိုင်းဖြစ်သည်။ တစ်ရက်၏အစိတ်အပိုင်းကို တစ်ရက်အဖြစ်ယူဆသည်။ (က၊ ၄:၁၇-၁၉; ဧသတာ ၄:၁၆; ၅:၁; ၂ ရာဇဝင်ချုပ် ၁၀:၅၊ ၁၂; ၁ ရာဇဝင် ၁၈:၉၊ ၁၀၊ ၄၆ တို့ကိုကြည့်ပါ။) ထို့ကြောင့် ယေရှုသည် သောကြာနေ့တွင် ကွယ်လွန်တော်မူပြီး၊ တနင်္ဂနွေနေ့တွင် လူသားမျိုးနွယ်အတွက် မျှော်လင့်ခြင်းအကြီးမားဆုံးသော အံ့ဖွယ်အမှုကို ပြုတော်မူခဲ့သည်—သင်္ချိုင်းဂူ၏တံခါးကို ဖြိုဖျက်ကာ ထမြောက်တော်မူခဲ့သည်။
