Matthew 3:10-12

And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but be that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Whose fan is in his band, and be will thoroughly purge his floor, and gather bis wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

"ယခုမှစ၍ ပုဆိန်သည် သစ်ပင်များ၏အမြစ်သို့ တင်ထားပြီ။ ထို့ကြောင့်၊ ကောင်းသောအသီးကို မသီးသောသစ်ပင်တိုင်းကို ခုတ်လှဲ၍ မီးထဲသို့ ချပစ်ရမည်။ ငါသည် နောင်တရခြင်းငှါ သင်တို့ကို ရေနှင့်ဗတ္တိဇံပေးသည်။ သို့သော်၊ ငါ့နောက်မှလာသောသူသည် ငါထက်တန်ခိုးကြီးတော်မူ၏။ ထိုသူ၏ဖိနပ်ကို သယ်ဆောင်ရန် ငါမထိုက်တန်။ ထိုသူသည် သန့်ရှင်းသောဝိညာဉ်တော်နှင့် မီးတို့ဖြင့် သင်တို့ကို ဗတ္တိဇံပေးတော်မူမည်။ ထိုသူ၏လက်တော်၌ လှိုင်းတံပိုးရှိ၏။ မိမိ၏ကောက်ပဲသီးနှံကို သန့်ရှင်းစွာရိတ်သိမ်း၍ ဂိုဏ်းတိုက်ထဲသို့ သိမ်းယူတော်မူမည်။ ဖုံများကိုမူကား၊ မငြိမ်းသတ်နိုင်သောမီးဖြင့် ရှို့မြှိုက်တော်မူမည်။"

Answer

John the Baptist is the one addressing the crowd. Then speaking directly to the Pharisees he says: “Who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come"(verse 7).John is speaking of two fires: one that purges from sin, and one that destroys the sinner. The first hire he mentions is from an analogy taken from Old Testament texts such as: “Therefore as the fire devoured the stubble, and the flame consumed the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel" (Isaiah 5:24). To the Israelites God said, “Understand therefore this day, that the LORD thy God is he which goeth over before thee; as a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the LORD hath said unto thee" (Deuteronomy 9:3). The other fire is used as a symbol of the purifying done by the Holy Ghost. Malachi says, “But who may abide the day of his coming? And who shall stand when he appeared? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap: And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness"(Malachi 3:2,3).

ယောဟန်ဆရာဘုရားသည် လူအုပ်ကို မိန့်မှာနေသူဖြစ်သည်။ ထို့နောက် ဖာရိရှဲများကို တိုက်ရိုက်ပြောရာတွင်၊ "နောင်တွင်ဖြစ်လတ္တံ့သော အမျက်တော်မှ ထွက်ပြေးရန် သင်တို့ကို အဘယ်သူသတိပေးသနည်း" (း၇) ဟု မေးသည်။

ယောဟန်သည် မီးနှစ်မျိုးအကြောင်းကို ပြောနေသည်။ တစ်မျိုးမှာ အပြစ်မှ သန့်စင်စေသောမီး၊ နောက်တစ်မျိုးမှာ အပြစ်သားကို ဖျက်ဆီးသောမီးဖြစ်သည်။ သူပြောသော ပထမမီးသည် ဓမ္မဟောင်းကျမ်းမှ ဥပမာများကို ကိုးကားထားသည်။ ဥပမာ၊ "ထို့ကြောင့် မီးသည် ကောက်ရိုးကို လောင်ကျွမ်းသကဲ့သို့၊ မီးလျှံသည် ဖုံကို မျိုချသကဲ့သို့၊ သူတို့၏အမြစ်သည် ပုပ်ခြင်းသို့ ရောက်လိမ့်မည်။ သူတို့၏ပန်းပွင့်သည် ဖုန်ကဲ့သို့ ပျံတက်လိမ့်မည်။ အကြောင်းမူကား၊ သူတို့သည် စစ်သူကြီးဖြစ်သော ထာဝရဘုရား၏ပညတ်တော်ကို ပယ်ပစ်ကြ၏။ ဣသရေလ၏သန့်ရှင်းသောသူ၏ နှုတ်ကပတ်တော်ကို မထီမဲ့မြင်ပြုကြ၏" (ဟေရှာ၊ ၅:၂၄)။

ဣသရေလလူမျိုးတို့အား ဘုရားသခင်က၊ "ထို့ကြောင့် ယနေ့မှစ၍ ထာဝရဘုရားသခင်သည် သင့်ရှေ့မှ ကြွတော်မူသောဘုရားဖြစ်ကြောင်း သိမှတ်လော့။ မီးလောင်ကျွမ်းသကဲ့သို့ သူတို့ကို ဖျက်ဆီးတော်မူမည်။ သူတို့ကို သင်၏မျက်နှာရှေ့မှာ နှိမ့်ချတော်မူမည်။ ထာဝရဘုရားက သင့်အား မိန့်တော်မူသည့်အတိုင်း၊ သင်သည် သူတို့ကို နှင်ထုတ်၍ လျင်မြန်စွာ ဖျက်ဆီးရမည်" (တ၊ ၉:၃) ဟု မိန့်တော်မူသည်။

အခြားမီးသည် သန့်ရှင်းသောဝိညာဉ်တော်အားဖြင့် သန့်စင်ခြင်းကို ကိုယ်စားပြုသည်။ မာလခိကပြောသည်မှာ၊ "သို့သော်၊ သူကြွလာသောနေ့ကို မည်သူခံနိုင်ရည်ရှိမည်နည်း။ သူပေါ်ထွန်းသောအခါ မည်သူရပ်တည်နိုင်မည်နည်း။ အကြောင်းမူကား၊ သူသည် ရွှေဖြည့်သူ၏မီးကဲ့သို့၊ ဖြူစင်စေသူ၏ဆပ်ပြာကဲ့သို့ ဖြစ်တော်မူ၏။ သူသည် ငွေကိုသန့်စင်စေသော ရွှေဖြည့်သူကဲ့သို့ ထိုင်တော်မူမည်။ လေဝိအမျိုးသားတို့ကို သန့်စင်စေပြီး၊ ရွှေငွေကဲ့သို့ စင်ကြယ်စေမည်။ ထိုသို့ဖြင့် သူတို့သည် ဖြောင့်မတ်ခြင်းနှင့်ပြည့်စုံသော ယဇ်ကို ထာဝရဘုရားအား ဆက်သရမည်" (မာလခိ၊ ၃:၂၊ ၃)။

 

The prophet Isaiah records the two fires as well. “And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin: And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, the city of righteousness, the faithful city. Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness. And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed" (Isaiah 1:25-28). The message is clear: Allow the Holy Spirit to

 purge away the sin, or the consuming fire will burn up the sinner. “Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable" (Luke 3:17).

ပရောဖက်ဟေရှာယသည်လည်း မီးနှစ်မျိုးအကြောင်းကို မှတ်တမ်းတင်ထားသည်။
"ငါသည် ငါ၏လက်ကို သင့်အပေါ်သို့ ပြန်လှည့်၍၊ သင်၏အညစ်အကြေးကို စင်ကြယ်စွာဖယ်ရှားမည်။ သင်၏ခဲဖျက်အားလုံးကို ဖယ်ရှားမည်။ ငါသည် သင်၏တရားသူကြီးများကို ရှေးဦးစွာကဲ့သို့ ပြန်လည်ခန့်အပ်မည်။ သင်၏အကြံပေးသူများကို အစကဲ့သို့ ပြန်လည်ခန့်အပ်မည်။ ထို့နောက်၊ သင့်ကို ဖြောင့်မတ်ခြင်းမြို့၊ သစ္စာရှိသောမြို့ဟု ခေါ်ဝေါ်ခြင်းခံရမည်။ ဇိအုန်မြို့ကို တရားစီရင်ခြင်းဖြင့် ရွေးနှုတ်တော်မူမည်။ သူ၏ပြောင်းလဲသောသူတို့ကို ဖြောင့်မတ်ခြင်းဖြင့် ရွေးနှုတ်တော်မူမည်။ ပြစ်မှားသူများနှင့် အပြစ်သားများ၏ပျက်စီးခြင်းသည် တစ်ပြိုင်နက်တည်းဖြစ်လိမ့်မည်။ ထာဝရဘုရားကို စွန့်ပစ်သောသူတို့သည် လောင်ကျွမ်းခြင်းသို့ ရောက်ကြလိမ့်မည်" (ဟေရှာ၊ ၁:၂၅-၂၈)။

သတင်းစကားသည် ရှင်းလင်းသည်။ သန့်ရှင်းသောဝိညာဉ်တော်ကို အပြစ်များကို သန့်စင်ခွင့်ပေးပါ၊ သို့မဟုတ် မီးလောင်ကျွမ်းခြင်းသည် အပြစ်သားကို လောင်ကျွမ်းစေမည်။
"ထိုသူ၏လက်တော်၌ လှိုင်းတံပိုးရှိ၏။ မိမိ၏ကောက်ပဲသီးနှံကို သန့်ရှင်းစွာရိတ်သိမ်း၍ ဂိုဏ်းတိုက်ထဲသို့ သိမ်းယူတော်မူမည်။ ဖုံများကိုမူကား၊ မငြိမ်းသတ်နိုင်သောမီးဖြင့် ရှို့မြှိုက်တော်မူမည်" (လု၊ ၃:၁၇)။
