Matthew 16:18

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church;

and the gates of bell shall not prevail against it.

"ငါသည်လည်း သင့်အား ပြောသည်ကား၊ သင်သည် ပေတရုဖြစ်၏။ ဤကျောက်ပေါ်တွင် ငါသည် ငါ့အသင်းတော်ကို တည်ဆောက်မည်။ ငရဲတံခါးများသည် ထိုအသင်းတော်ကို အနိုင်မရနိုင်ပါ။"

Answer

Throughout the scriptures Jesus is compared to a "rock." In Deuteronomy 32:4Moses says, “He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he." Hannah sang, “There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God"(1 Samuel 2:2).The Psalmist declared, “The LORD is my rock...""For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?" (Psalm 18:2,31).Paul testifies to this truth. He wrote, “And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ" (1 Corinthians 10:4). Peter himself testified that Christ is the Rock. He wrote, “Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed" (1 Peter 2:6-8).

Those that take this text to state that Christ built His church upon Peter have no ground to stand on. First of all, the gates of hell did prevail against Peter when with cursing he denied the Lord. (See Matthew 26:69-75).Second, Peter was not the leader of the Christian church. It was James the brother of Jesus. (See Matthew 13:55; Galatians 1:19).It was this James that the apostles went to for counsel, and

who presided over the Jerusalem counsels. (See Acts 12:17; 15:13-21;21:18.)Peter made the confession, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God" (verse 16).It was Peter that made this confession when Christ asked, “Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?" (Verse 13).It was on this confession that Jesus stated, “on this rock I will build my church."

သမ္မာကျမ်းစာတစ်လျှောက်လုံးတွင် ယေရှုခရစ်တော်ကို “ကျောက်” နှင့်နှိုင်းယှဉ်ထားသည်။ တရားဟောရာကျမ်း ၃၂:၄ တွင် မောရှေက “ထိုသူသည် ကျောက်ဖြစ်၏။ ထိုသူ၏အမှုသည် စုံလင်ပြည့်စုံ၏။ အကြောင်းမူကား၊ ထိုသူ၏လမ်းခရီးအလုံးစုံတို့သည် တရားတော်နှင့်ညီ၏။ သစ္စာတော်ရှိသော ဘုရားသခင်ဖြစ်၏။ မတရားမှုမရှိ၊ တရားမျှတ၍ ဖြောင့်မတ်တော်မူသော ဘုရားဖြစ်၏” ဟုဆိုသည်။ ဟန္နကလည်း “ထာဝရဘုရားကဲ့သို့ သန့်ရှင်းတော်မူသောသူမရှိ။ အကြောင်းမူကား၊ ကိုယ်တော်မှတပါး အဘယ်သူမျှမရှိ။ ငါတို့ဘုရားသခင်ကဲ့သို့ ကျောက်ဖြစ်သောသူမရှိ” (၁ ရာဇဝင်ချုပ် ၂:၂) ဟု သီဆိုခဲ့သည်။ ဆာလံဆရာကလည်း “ထာဝရဘုရားသည် ငါ၏ကျောက်ဖြစ်တော်မူ၏” ဟုကြေညာခဲ့သည်။ “အကြောင်းမူကား၊ ထာဝရဘုရားမှတပါး အဘယ်ဘုရားရှိသနည်း။ ငါတို့ဘုရားသခင်မှတပါး အဘယ်ကျောက်ရှိသနည်း” (ဆာလံ ၁၈:၂၊ ၃၁)။ ပေါလုသည်လည်း ဤသမ္မာတရားကို သက်သေခံခဲ့သည်။ သူက “ထိုသူအပေါင်းတို့သည် ဝိညာဉ်ရေးရာသောက်စရာကို သောက်ကြ၏။ အကြောင်းမူကား၊ သူတို့သည် မိမိတို့နောက်သို့လိုက်သော ဝိညာဉ်ရေးရာကျောက်မှ သောက်ကြ၏။ ထိုကျောက်ကား ခရစ်တော်ပင်ဖြစ်၏” (၁ ကောရိန္သု ၁၀:၄) ဟု ရေးသားခဲ့သည်။ ပေတရုကိုယ်တိုင်လည်း ခရစ်တော်သည် ကျောက်ဖြစ်ကြောင်း သက်သေခံခဲ့သည်။ သူက “ထို့ကြောင့် ကျမ်းစာတွင် ဤသို့ရေးထားသည်ကား၊ ငါသည် ဇိအုန်တွင် ရွေးကောက်တော်မူသော၊ မြတ်နိုးဖွယ်ရှိသော ထောင့်ကျောက်တစ်ခုကို ချထားမည်။ ထိုကျောက်ကို ယုံကြည်သောသူသည် ရှက်ကြောက်ခြင်းမရှိရဟု ဆိုထားပြီ။ ထို့ကြောင့် သင်တို့သည် ယုံကြည်သောသူများဖြစ်ကြသည်နှင့်အညီ၊ ထိုကျောက်သည် သင်တို့အတွက် မြတ်နိုးဖွယ်ဖြစ်၏။ သို့သော် နာခံခြင်းမရှိသောသူတို့အတွက်မူ၊ ထိုကျောက်သည် ဆောက်လုပ်သူတို့ ပယ်ထားသောကျောက်၊ ထောင့်ကျောက်ဖြစ်၏။ ထို့အပြင်၊ နာခံခြင်းမရှိသောသူတို့အတွက် ထိခိုက်စရာကျောက်နှင့် မှားယွင်းစရာကျောက်ဖြစ်၏။ ထိုသူတို့သည် နှုတ်ကပတ်တော်ကို နာခံခြင်းမရှိသောကြောင့် ထိခိုက်ကြ၏။ ထိုသို့ဖြစ်ရန် သူတို့အား ခန့်ထားတော်မူပြီ” (၁ ပေတရု ၂:၆-၈) ဟု ရေးသားခဲ့သည်။

ဤကျမ်းပိုဒ်ကို ယေရှုခရစ်တော်သည် ပေတရုပေါ်တွင် အသင်းတော်ကို တည်ဆောက်သည်ဟု ယူဆသူများသည် မည်သည့်အခြေခံကိုမျှ မရှိပါ။ ပထမဦးစွာ၊ ပေတရုသည် သခင်ကို ငြင်းပယ်ပြီး ကျိန်ဆဲသောအခါ၊ ငရဲတံခါးများသည် သူ့အား အနိုင်ရခဲ့သည်။ (မဿဲ ၂၆:၆၉-၇၅ ကိုကြည့်ပါ။) ဒုတိယအချက်မှာ၊ ပေတရုသည် ခရစ်ယာန်အသင်းတော်၏ ခေါင်းဆောင်မဟုတ်ပါ။ ယေရှု၏ညီ ယာကုပ်ဖြစ်သည်။ (မဿဲ ၁၃:၅၅၊ ဂလာတိ ၁:၁၉ ကိုကြည့်ပါ။) ဤယာကုပ်ပင်လျှင် တမန်တော်များက အကြံဉာဏ်တောင်းရန် သွားခဲ့ကြပြီး၊ ယေရုရှလင်ကောင်စီကို ဦးဆောင်ခဲ့သည်။ (တမန်တော် ၁၂:၁၇၊ ၁၅:၁၃-၂၁၊ ၂၁:၁၈ ကိုကြည့်ပါ။) ပေတရုက “ကိုယ်တော်သည် ခရစ်တော်၊ အသက်ရှင်တော်မူသော ဘုရားသခင်၏သားတော်ဖြစ်ပါ၏” (း၁၆) ဟု ဝန်ခံခဲ့သည်။ ယေရှုက “လူသားတော်ကို လူတို့က အဘယ်သူဟု ဆိုကြသနည်း” (း၁၃) ဟု မေးသောအခါ၊ ပေတရုက ဤဝန်ခံချက်ကို ပြုခဲ့သည်။ ဤဝန်ခံချက်ပေါ်တွင် ယေရှုက “ဤကျောက်ပေါ်တွင် ငါသည် ငါ့အသင်းတော်ကို တည်ဆောက်မည်” ဟု မိန့်တော်မူခဲ့သည်။
