"And be stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the LORD, and said, O

LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child's soul come into him again. And the LORD heard

The voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and be revived"

"ထိုအခါ ဧလိယသည်ကောင်းကင်၊ မြေကြီးနှင့်တိုင်တည်၍ ထာဝရအရှင်ထာဝရဘုရားကို အော်ဟစ်တောင်းလျှောက်လျက်၊ အို ထာဝရအရှင်ဘုရား၊ ကျေးဇူးပြု၍ ဤကလေး၏ဝိညာဉ်သည် သူ့ထံသို့ ပြန်ရောက်ပါစေသော၊ ဟု ဆုတောင်းပြီးလျှင်၊ ကလေးပေါ်သို့ သုံးကြိမ်တိုင်တိုင် ကိုယ်ကို ဖြန့်လျက်နေလေ၏။ ထာဝရဘုရားသည် ဧလိယ၏အသံကို နားထောင်၍၊ ကလေး၏ဝိညာဉ်သည် သူ့ထံသို့ ပြန်ရောက်သဖြင့်၊ ကလေးသည် အသက်ပြန်ရှင်လေ၏။"

Answer

The prayer of the prophet is that the life (soul) of the boy return to him. The Hebrew word nepbesh translated in this verse as soul" appears in the Old Testament more than 700 times and is translated 117 times into English as "life" An example of nepbesb translated "life" is found in 1 Kings 19:4,in which Elijah declares, "O Lord, take away my life [Heb. nepbesb]." Another example of soul meaning life is recorded in the Psalms. “Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul[Hebrew nepbesh] to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil" (Psalm 40:14).The translation "soul” in the verse in question can be misleading if taken as an immortal entity capable of a conscious existence when detached from the body. The Bible is emphatic when it says, “For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not anything, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion forever in anything that is done under the sun"(Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6). Never once in all the 700 times does this Hebrew word suggest or imply that a soul is immortal.

 

ပရောဖက်တို့၏ဆုတောင်းခြင်းမှာ ထိုကောင်လေး၏အသက် (ဝိညာဉ်) သူ့ထံသို့ပြန်ရောက်စေရန်ဖြစ်သည်။ ဤကျမ်းပိုဒ်တွင် "ဝိညာဉ်" ဟုဘာသာပြန်ထားသော ဟေဗြဲစကားလုံး nephesh (နေဖက်ရှ်) သည် ဓမ္မဟောင်းကျမ်းတွင် အကြိမ် ၇၀၀ ကျော်ပါဝင်ပြီး၊ ၁၁၇ ကြိမ်တွင် "အသက်" ဟု အင်္ဂလိပ်ဘာသာသို့ပြန်ဆိုထားသည်။ Nephesh ကို "အသက်" ဟုပြန်ဆိုထားသော ဥပမာတစ်ခုမှာ ၁ ရာဇဝင်ချုပ် ၁၉:၄ တွင်တွေ့ရသည်။ ထိုနေရာတွင် ဧလိယက "အို ထာဝရအရှင်၊ ကျေးဇူးပြု၍ ကျွန်ုပ်၏အသက် (nephesh) ကို ယူတော်မူပါ" ဟုဆိုထားသည်။ ဝိညာဉ်ကို "အသက်" အဖြစ်အဓိပ္ပာယ်ဖွင့်ဆိုထားသော အခြားဥပမာတစ်ခုမှာ ဆာလံကျမ်းတွင်တွေ့ရသည်။ "ကျွန်ုပ်၏အသက် (nephesh) ကို ဖျက်ဆီးရန် ရှာဖွေသူများသည် ရှက်ကြောက်ရှား၍ ပျက်စီးကြပါစေ။ ကျွန်ုပ်ကို ဒုက္ခပေးလိုသူများသည် နောက်သို့ဆုတ်၍ အရှက်ရကြပါစေ" (ဆာလံ ၄၀:၁၄)။ ဤကျမ်းပိုဒ်တွင် "ဝိညာဉ်" ဟုပြန်ဆိုထားခြင်းသည် ခန္ဓာကိုယ်မှခွဲထွက်၍ သတိရှိသောအရာတစ်ခုအဖြစ် နားလည်ပါက လွဲမှားစေနိုင်သည်။ ကျမ်းစာက "အသက်ရှင်သောသူတို့သည် မိမိတို့သေရမည်ကို သိကြ၏။ သေသောသူတို့မူကား အဘယ်အရာကိုမျှမသိကြ၊ သူတို့၏အကျိုးလည်းမရှိတော့။ သူတို့၏အမှတ်သည်လည်း မေ့လျော့ခြင်းသို့ ရောက်၏။ သူတို့၏မေတ္တာ၊ သူတို့၏အငြိုးနှင့် သူတို့၏မနာလိုခြင်းတို့သည်လည်း ပျက်စီးကြ၏။ နေမင်းအောက်၌ ဖြစ်ပျက်သမျှတို့တွင် သူတို့၏အစုအဝေးလည်း မရှိတော့ပြီ" (ဒေသနာ ၉:၅-၆) ဟု ထင်ရှားစွာဖော်ပြထားသည်။ ဤဟေဗြဲစကားလုံး (nephesh) ကို အကြိမ် ၇၀၀ ကျော်အသုံးပြုထားသော်လည်း၊ တစ်ခါမျှပင် ဝိညာဉ်သည် မသေနိုင်သောအရာဖြစ်သည်ဟု မဆိုလိုပါ။
