"If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath; all flesh shall perish together, and man small turn again unto dust."

"အကယ်၍ ထာဝရဘုရားသည် လူကိုစိတ်စွဲလမ်းတော်မူ၍၊ လူ၏ဝိညာဉ်နှင့် သူ၏အသက်ရှူခြင်းကို ကိုယ်တော်ထံသို့ ပြန်သိမ်းတော်မူလျှင်၊ လူအပေါင်းတို့သည် တစ်ပြိုင်နက်တည်း သေကြလိမ့်မည်။ လူသားသည် မြေမှုန့်သို့ ပြန်ရောက်လိမ့်မည်။"

 

Answer

The “he" of verse 14 is referring to God (verse 12), and what he has power to do. It was God who in the beginning "formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul" (Genesis 2:7).

Without the breath man could not live. Then when man sinned, God said, “In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return" (Genesis 3:19).Notice that God clearly describes the habitat of man when he dies-not heaven, but dust. The parallelism used by Job of “breath" and “spirit" is used in Job 27:3:"All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils." The same concept is found in the Psalms: “Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust. Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth" (Psalm 104:29, 30).

In the book of Ezekiel the words "breath," and "spirit" are used interchangeably. Notice the wording. “Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD" (Ezekiel 37:5-6). Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves, And shall pour my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD"(Ezekiel 37:12-14).Notice that in verses 5 and 6 the word "breath" is used, and in verses 12.14 the word spirit" is used. Man can only live when the breath, or spirit, is given by God, the life-giver.

ငါသည် ထာဝရအရှင်ဘုရားဖြစ်ကြောင်း သင်တို့သိကြလိမ့်မည်။
ငါသည် ငါ၏ဝိညာဉ်တော်ကို သင်တို့ထဲသို့ သွန်းလောင်းမည်။ သင်တို့သည် အသက်ရှင်ကြလိမ့်မည်။
သင်တို့ကို သင်တို့၏မြေပေါ်၌ ပြန်နေရာချထားမည်။
