zephaniah The prophet Zephaniah traces his genealogy back to an important personage by the name of Hizkiah, probably King Hezekiah (the names are the same in Hebrew) of Judah. He states that he ministered under King Josiah (ch. 1:1), who reigned from 640 to 609 b.c. Nineveh’s destruction, which came in 612, is referred to as a future event, indicating that Zephaniah’s work preceded this date. Furthermore, the repeated mention of Judah’s wickedness, described as enormous in his day (see chs. 1:4–6, 8, 9, 12; 3:1–3, 7), points to the time before Josiah’s reform, which began in 623/22. These observations seem to place Zephaniah in the early years of Josiah’s reign, perhaps about 630 b.c., as a contemporary of Habakkuk.

ဇေဖနိ ပရောဖက် ဇေဖနိသည် မိမိ၏ ဆွေစဉ်မျိုးဆက်ကို ဟိဇကိအမည်ရှိသော အရေးပါသော ပုဂ္ဂိုလ်တစ်ဦးထံအထိ လိုက်လံဖော်ပြထားရာ၊ ၎င်းသည် ယုဒပြည်၏ ရှင်ဘုရင် ဟေဇကိ (ဟေဗြဲဘာသာစကားဖြင့် အမည်တူဖြစ်သည်) ဖြစ်နိုင်သည်။ သူသည် ဘီစီ ခြောက်ရာ့လေးဆယ် (၆၄၀) မှ ခြောက်ရာ့ကိုး (၆၀၉) အထိ စိုးစံခဲ့သော ရှင်ဘုရင် ယောရှိမင်းလက်ထက်တွင် အမှုဆောင်ခဲ့ကြောင်း ဖော်ပြထားသည် (အခန်းကြီး ၁:၁)။ ခြောက်ရာ့တဆယ့်နှစ် (၆၁၂) တွင် ဖြစ်ပွားခဲ့သော နိနေဝေမြို့ ပျက်စီးခြင်းကို အနာဂတ်ဖြစ်ရပ်တစ်ခုအဖြစ် ရည်ညွှန်းထားခြင်းက ဇေဖနိ၏ လုပ်ဆောင်မှုသည် ဤရက်စွဲထက် စောကြောင်း ညွှန်ပြနေသည်။ ထို့ပြင်၊ သူ၏ခေတ်တွင် အလွန်ကြီးမားသည်ဟု ဖော်ပြထားသော ယုဒပြည်၏ ဆိုးသွမ်းမှုများကို ထပ်တလဲလဲ ဖော်ပြထားခြင်းသည် (အခန်းကြီး ၁:四-၆၊ ၈၊ ၉၊ ၁၂၊ ၃:၁-၃၊ ၇ ကိုကြည့်ပါ) ခြောက်ရာ့နှစ်ဆယ့်သုံး/နှစ်ဆယ့်နှစ် (၆၂၃/၂၂) တွင် စတင်ခဲ့သော ယောရှိမင်း၏ ပြုပြင်ပြောင်းလဲမှု မတိုင်မီ အချိန်ကာလကို ညွှန်ပြနေသည်။ ဤလေ့လာတွေ့ရှိချက်များသည် ဇေဖနိကို ယောရှိမင်းစိုးစံမှု၏ အစောပိုင်းနှစ်များ၊ ခန့်မှန်းခြေ ဘီစီ ခြောက်ရာ့သုံးဆယ် (၆၃၀) ဝန်းကျင်တွင် ဟဗက္ကုတ်၏ ခေတ်ပြိုင်တစ်ဦးအဖြစ် ထားရှိပုံရသည်။
