Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy,

Answer

This text has been used extensively by antinomians to suggest that by Christ fulfilling the law it makes it of none effect any longer. But Jesus' thought on the subject does not end with verse 17.He continues and says, “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled" (Matthew 5:18). Obviously, heaven and earth are still intact. Therefore, the law could not have passed. The problem with the misunderstanding is with the word "fulfill." However, if the rest of the chapter is read it becomes very obvious that Jesus is amplifying the law, not doing away with it. In fact, the word "fulfill" does not mean to "do away with," but rather to make full, make complete, or to meet its requirement. In Matthew, Jesus says to John the Baptist, “Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becomes us to fulfil all righteousness" (Matthew 3:15).If the word "fulfill “meant to terminate, it would then mean that Jesus is terminating all righteousness. This is not the case at all.

When Paul, Jesus' messenger to the Gentiles, was explaining how the law is fulfilled, he said, “Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law"(Romans 13:8-10). In Jesus' prayer, he prayed, “And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves" (John 17:13).Jesus is not praying that their joy should end, but rather that his joy might be realized in them.

တပါးအမျိုးသားများထံသို့ ခရစ်တော်၏တမန်တော်ဖြစ်သော ရှင်ပေါလုသည် ပညတ်တရားကို မည်သို့ပြည့်စုံစေရမည်ကို ရှင်းပြရာတွင်၊ "တစ်စုံတစ်ယောက်သောသူအား အဘယ်အမှုကိုမျှ မကြွေးမကြော်ကြနှင့်။ သို့သော်၊ တစ်ယောက်ကိုတစ်ယောက် ချစ်ခြင်းကျေးဇူးကိုသာ ကြွေးကြော်ကြလော့။ အကြောင်းမူကား၊ သူတစ်ပါးကိုချစ်သောသူသည် ပညတ်တရားကို ပြည့်စုံစေပြီ။ ကိုယ်ကျင့်တရားတို့ကား၊ သူ့မယားကို မပြစ်မှားရ၊ လူအသက်ကို မသတ်ရ၊ မခိုးရ၊ မမှန်သောသက်သေကို မခံရ၊ တပ်မက်ရာကို မတပ်မက်ရ ဟူသောပညတ်တို့တည်း။ ထို့ပြင် အခြားပညတ်တစ်ပါးပါးရှိလျှင်၊ သူတစ်ပါးကို ကိုယ်နှင့်အမျှ ချစ်လော့ဟူသော ဤစကားတွင် အတိုချုပ်ပါရှိပြီ။ ချစ်ခြင်းမေတ္တာသည် သူတစ်ပါးအား ဒုက္ခမပေး။ ထို့ကြောင့်၊ ချစ်ခြင်းမေတ္တာသည် ပညတ်တရား၏ပြည့်စုံခြင်းဖြစ်၏" (ရော၊ ၁၃:၈-၁၀) ဟု ဆိုသည်။

ခရစ်တော်၏ဆုတောင်းချက်တွင်၊ သူက "ယခုမှစ၍ ငါသည် ကိုယ်တော်ထံသို့ လာပါ၏။ ဤစကားတို့ကို လောကီ၌ ပြောဆိုရခြင်းမှာ၊ ငါ၏ဝမ်းမြောက်ခြင်းသည် သူတို့၌ ပြည့်စုံစေခြင်းငှါဖြစ်၏" (ယော၊ ၁၇:၁၃) ဟု ဆုတောင်းတော်မူသည်။ ခရစ်တော်သည် သူတို့၏ဝမ်းမြောက်ခြင်းကို အဆုံးသတ်ရန် ဆုတောင်းနေခြင်းမဟုတ်ပါ။ သူ၏ဝမ်းမြောက်ခြင်းသည် သူတို့၌ ပြည့်စုံစေရန် ဆုတောင်းနေခြင်းဖြစ်သည်။
