Malachi 4:5, 6

Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

"ကြည့်ကြလော့၊ ထာဝရအရှင်၏ ကြီးမြတ်သောနေ့ရက် မတိုင်မီ၊
ငါသည် ပရောဖက်ဧလိယကို သင်တို့ထံသို့ စေလွှတ်မည်။
ထိုသူသည် ဖခင်တို့၏စိတ်နှလုံးကို သားသမီးတို့ထံသို့၎င်း၊
သားသမီးတို့၏စိတ်နှလုံးကို ဖခင်တို့ထံသို့၎င်း ပြန်လှည့်စေမည်။

Answer

Elijah was one of two individuals in the entire Bible that did not see death(2 Kings 2:11). Enoch was the other (Genesis 5:21-24).Malachi's prediction has Elijah coming to turn the heart of the fathers to the children, “and vice versa. The question is: Was Elijah going to be reincarnated as some suppose? How would this prophecy be fulfilled? Reincarnation means that a person or animal dies and their soul is believed to be reborn in a different form. However, Elijah never died, so his soul (according to those who believe that the soul separates at death) could not have separated. So how is this riddle explained? The answer is found in the words of Christ. Speaking of John the Baptist, he said, “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffered violence, and the violent take it by force. For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come" (Matthew 11:12-14).

In addressing the role of John, Luke declared: “And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make-ready a people prepared for the Lord"(Luke 1:16,17).John's work was to be done in the “spirit and power" of Elijah. And again, before the Lord returns, the message will once more be given in the "spirit and power" of Elijah to prepare the way of the Lord's return.
