Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?

1 Corinthians 11:13 (Judson’s Myanmar Bible): "သင်တို့သည် ကိုယ့်ဘာသာကိုယ် စီရင်ကြလော့။ မိန်းမသည် ခေါင်းမခြုံဘဲ ဘုရားသခင်ထံတော်၌ ဆုတောင်းသောအရာသည် သင့်လျော်သလော။"

 

Answer

There are several different denominations that insist on women covering their heads based on this text. While it is true that people can become irreverent in the house of worship, they can be irreverent irrespective of the restrictions imposed on them. Paul is cautioning believers as to what is proper deportment in the house of God. But though he makes a lot of different points about the issue, he concludes with this point: "Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering"(verses 13 and 14). Notice that Paul says, “Her hair is given her for a covering." Apparently there must have been different ideas as to whether men or women should cover themselves when worshipping. He gives his advice in the matter but finally concludes, “But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God" (verse 16). In other words, don't make an issue of it.

"အသင်းတော်များစွာတို့သည် ဤကျမ်းပိုဒ်ကို အခြေခံ၍ မိန်းမများအား ခေါင်းဖုံးရန် အတင်းအကျပ်ပြုကြသည်။ ဝတ်ပြုရာဌာန၌ လူများသည် ရိုသေမှုမရှိဘဲ နေတတ်ကြသည်မှာ မှန်သော်လည်း၊ ၎င်းတို့အပေါ် ချမှတ်ထားသော ကန့်သတ်ချက်များမခွဲခြားဘဲ ရိုသေမှုမရှိဘဲ နေနိုင်ကြသည်။ ရှင်ပေါလုသည် ယုံကြည်သူများအား ဘုရားသခင်၏အိမ်တော်၌ သင့်လျော်သော အမူအကျင့်ကို သတိပေးနှိုးဆော်သည်။ သို့သော် သူသည် ဤအကြောင်းနှင့်ပတ်သက်၍ အချက်များစွာကို ထောက်ပြခဲ့သော်လည်း၊ နောက်ဆုံး၌ ဤအချက်ဖြင့် သူ နိဂုံးချုပ်သည်။ ‘သင်တို့သည် ကိုယ့်ဘာသာကိုယ် စီရင်ကြလော့။ မိန်းမသည် ခေါင်းမခြုံဘဲ ဘုရားသခင်ထံတော်၌ ဆုတောင်းသောအရာသည် သင့်လျော်သလော။ သဘာဝတရားကိုယ်တိုင်သည် သင်တို့အား မသင်ပြသလော။ ယောက်ျားသည် ဆံပင်ရှည်လျှင် အရှက်ရစရာဖြစ်၏။ မိန်းမသည် ဆံပင်ရှည်လျှင် ဘုန်းအသရေဖြစ်၏။ အကြောင်းမူကား၊ ဆံပင်သည် ခြုံစရာဘို့ မိန်းမအား ပေးအပ်သောကြောင့်တည်း’ (ကျမ်းပိုဒ် ၁၃ နှင့် ၁၄)။ ရှင်ပေါလုက ‘ဆံပင်သည် ခြုံစရာဘို့ မိန်းမအား ပေးအပ်သော’ ဟု ဆိုသည်ကို သတိပြုပါ။ ယောက်ျားနှင့် မိန်းမတို့သည် ဝတ်ပြုသောအခါ မိမိကိုယ်ကို ဖုံးအုပ်သင့်မသင့် အမြင်အမျိုးမျိုးရှိခဲ့ပုံရသည်။ သူသည် ဤကိစ္စနှင့်ပတ်သက်၍ အကြံပေးခဲ့သော်လည်း၊ နောက်ဆုံး၌ ‘အကယ်၍ အဘယ်သူသည် ဆန့်ကျင်ဘက်ပြုသောသဘောရှိလျှင်၊ ထိုသို့သော ဓလေ့ထုံးစံကို ငါတို့၌မရှိ၊ ဘုရားသခင်၏အသင်းတော်တို့၌လည်း မရှိ’ (ကျမ်းပိုဒ် ၁၆) ဟု နိဂုံးချုပ်သည်။ တစ်နည်းအားဖြင့်ဆိုရသော်၊ ဤအကြောင်းကို အငြင်းပွားစရာမဖြစ်စေနှင့်ဟု ဆိုလိုသည်။"
