အခန်း ၁၃ — “ဒီမှာဘာလာလုပ်နေတာလဲဧလိယ”

Chapter 13—“What Doest Thou Here?”

ဤအခန်းသည် ဓမ္မရာဇဝင်တတိယစောင် ၁၉:၉-၁၈ အပေါ် အခြေခံထားပါသည်။

This chapter is based on 1 Kings 19:9-18.

ဟောရပ်တောင်ပေါ်ရှိ ဧလိယ၏ ဆုတ်ခွာပုန်းအောင်းမှုသည် လူတို့နှင့် ကွယ်ဝှက်နေသော်လည်း ဘုရားသခင် သိတော်မူ၏။ နွမ်းနယ်ကာ စိတ်ပျက်အားငယ်နေသော ပရောဖက်ကို မိမိအား ဖိစီးနှိပ်စက်နေသော မှောင်မိုက်တန်ခိုးများအကြား တစ်ဦးတည်း ရုန်းကန်ရန် ပစ်မထားခဲ့ပါ။ ဧလိယ ခိုလှုံရာ ဂူအဝတွင်၊ သူ၏ လိုအပ်ချက်များကို မေးမြန်းရန်နှင့် ဣသရေလလူမျိုးအတွက် မြတ်သောရည်ရွယ်ချက်ကို ရှင်းလင်းစွာ သိစေရန် စေလွှတ်လိုက်သော အားကြီးသော ကောင်းကင်တမန်တစ်ပါးမှတစ်ဆင့် ဘုရားသခင်သည် သူ့ကို တွေ့ဆုံတော်မူ၏။

Elijah’s retreat on Mount Horeb, though hidden from
man, was known to God; and the weary and discouraged prophet was not left to struggle alone
with the powers of darkness that were pressing
upon him. At the entrance to the cave wherein Elijah had taken refuge, God met with him, through
a mighty angel sent to inquire into his needs and
to make plain the divine purpose for Israel.

ဗာလဝတ်ပြုကိုးကွယ်ခြင်းသို့ သွေးဆောင်ခံခဲ့ရသူများအတွက် သူ၏အလုပ်ကို မပြီးမြောက်မီ၊ ဧလိယသည် ဘုရားသခင်ကို လုံးလုံးလျားလျား ယုံကြည်ကိုးစားရန် သင်ယူရမည်ဖြစ်သည်။ ကရမေလတောင်ထိပ်ပေါ်ရှိ ထူးခြားသောအောင်ပွဲသည် သာ၍ကြီးမြတ်သော အောင်ပွဲများအတွက် လမ်းခင်းပေးခဲ့သော်လည်း၊ မိမိရှေ့တွင် ပွင့်လင်းလာသော အံ့သြဖွယ် အခွင့်အလမ်းများမှ ဧလိယသည် ယေဇဗေလ၏ ခြိမ်းခြောက်မှုကြောင့် နောက်ဆုတ်သွားခဲ့သည်။ ဘုရားသခင်၏ လူသည် သူလက်ရှိ ရောက်ရှိနေသော အနေအထား၏ အားနည်းမှုကို ဘုရားသခင် သူ့အား ရှိစေလိုသော အခွင့်သာသည့် အခြေအနေနှင့် နှိုင်းယှဉ်၍ နားလည်သဘောပေါက်ရမည်။

Not until Elijah had learned to trust wholly in God could
he complete his work for those who had been
seduced into Baal worship. The signal triumph
on the heights of Carmel had opened the way
for still greater victories; yet from the wonderful
opportunities opening before him, Elijah had been
turned away by the threat of Jezebel. The man of
God must be made to understand the weakness of
his present position as compared with the vantage
ground the Lord would have him occupy.

[168] God met His tried servant with the inquiry, What doest
thou here, Elijah? I sent you to the brook Cherith
and afterward to the widow of Sarepta. I commissioned you to return to Israel and to stand before
the idolatrous priests on Carmel, and I girded you
with strength to guide the chariot of the king to
the gate of Jezreel. But who sent you on this hasty

flight into the wilderness? What errand have you
here?

ဧလိယသည် ခါးသီးသော စိတ်နှလုံးဖြင့် မိမိ၏ညည်းတွဲမှုကို လျှောက်ထားသည်မှာ- “အကျွန်ုပ်သည် ကောင်းကင်ဗိုလ်ခြေအရှင် ဘုရားသခင် ထာဝရဘုရားဘက်၌ အလွန်စိတ်အားကြီးပါပြီ။ အကြောင်းမူကား၊ ဣသရေလအမျိုးသားတို့သည် ကိုယ်တော်၏ ပဋိညာဉ်တရားကို စွန့်ပစ်၍၊ ယဇ်ပလ္လင်တော်တို့ကို ဖြိုဖျက်လျက်၊ ပရောဖက်တော်တို့ကို ထားနှင့် ကွပ်မျက်ကြပါပြီ။ အကျွန်ုပ်တစ်ယောက်တည်းသာ ကျန်ရစ်သော်လည်း၊ အကျွန်ုပ်အသက်ကို သတ်အံ့သောငှါ ရှာကြပါသည်” ဟု လျှောက်လေ၏။

In bitterness of soul Elijah mourned out his complaint:
“I have been very jealous for the Lord God of
hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken Thy
covenant, thrown down Thine altars, and slain
Thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only,
am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.”

ကောင်းကင်တမန်သည် ပရောဖက်အား ဂူထဲမှထွက်ရန် ခေါ်ပြီးနောက်၊ တောင်ပေါ်ရှိ ထာဝရဘုရားရှေ့တော်၌ ရပ်နေ၍ ဗျာဒိတ်တော်ကို နားထောင်ရန် မိန့်တော်မူ၏။ “ထိုအခါ ထာဝရဘုရားသည် ကြွတော်မူ၍၊ ထာဝရဘုရားရှေ့တော်၌ အားကြီးသော လေပြင်းမုန်တိုင်းသည် တောင်တို့ကို ဖြိုခွဲ၍ ကျောက်ဆောင်တို့ကို အပိုင်းပိုင်းကျိုးစေသော်လည်း၊ လေထဲမှာ ထာဝရဘုရား ရှိတော်မမူ။ လေနောက်၌ မြေလှုပ်သော်လည်း၊ မြေလှုပ်ခြင်းထဲမှာ ထာဝရဘုရား ရှိတော်မမူ။ မြေလှုပ်ခြင်းနောက်၌ မီးလောင်သော်လည်း၊ မီးထဲမှာ ထာဝရဘုရား ရှိတော်မမူ။ မီးနောက်၌ ငြိမ်သက်သော အသံတော်ငယ် ပေါ်လာ၏။ ဧလိယသည် ကြားသောအခါ၊ မိမိမျက်နှာကို ဝတ်လုံနှင့် ဖုံးအုပ်လျက် ထွက်၍ ဂူဝမှာ ရပ်နေ၏။”

Calling upon the prophet to leave the cave, the angel
bade him stand before the Lord on the mount,
and listen to His word. “And, behold, the Lord
passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the
mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before
the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and
after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was
not in the earthquake: and after the earthquake a
fre; but the Lord was not in the fre: and after the
fre a still small voice. And it was so, when Elijah
heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle,
and went out, and stood in the entering in of the
cave.”

Not in mighty manifestations of divine power, but by “a
still small voice,” did God choose to reveal Himself to His servant. He desired to teach Elijah that
it is not always the work that makes the greatest
demonstration that is most successful in accomplishing His purpose. While Elijah waited for the [169]
revelation of the Lord, a tempest rolled, the lightnings flashed, and a devouring fre swept by; but
God was not in all this. Then there came a still,
small voice, and the prophet covered his head before the presence of the Lord. His petulance was
silenced, his spirit softened and subdued. He now
knew that a quiet trust, a frm reliance on God,

would ever fnd for him a present help in time of
need.

ဘုရားသခင်၏ သမ္မာတရားကို အတတ်ပညာအရှိဆုံး တင်ပြမှုကသာ စိတ်ဝိညာဉ်ကို နောင်တရစေပြီး ပြောင်းလဲစေသည်မဟုတ်ပါ။ လူတို့၏ စိတ်နှလုံးကို ထက်မြက်သောစကား သို့မဟုတ် ယုတ္တိဗေဒများဖြင့် မဟုတ်ဘဲ၊ စရိုက်လက္ခဏာကို ပြောင်းလဲစေပြီး ဖွံ့ဖြိုးစေသော သန့်ရှင်းသော ဝိညာဉ်တော်၏ ချိုသာသော လွှမ်းမိုးမှုများဖြင့်သာ ရောက်ရှိစေနိုင်ပါသည်။ စိတ်နှလုံးကို ပြောင်းလဲစေနိုင်သော တန်ခိုးရှိသည်မှာ ဘုရားသခင်၏ ဝိညာဉ်တော်၏ ငြိမ်သက်သော အသံတော်ငယ်ပင် ဖြစ်ပါသည်။

It is not always the most learned presentation of God’s
truth that convicts and converts the soul. Not by
eloquence or logic are men’s hearts reached, but
by the sweet influences of the Holy Spirit, which
operate quietly yet surely in transforming and
developing character. It is the still, small voice
of the Spirit of God that has power to change the
heart.

“ဧလိယ၊ သင်သည် ဤနေရာ၌ အဘယ်သို့ပြုသနည်း” ဟု အသံတော်က မေးမြန်းပြန်ရာ၊ ပရောဖက်က “အကျွန်ုပ်သည် ကောင်းကင်ဗိုလ်ခြေအရှင် ဘုရားသခင် ထာဝရဘုရားဘက်၌ အလွန်စိတ်အားကြီးပါပြီ။ အကြောင်းမူကား၊ ဣသရေလအမျိုးသားတို့သည် ကိုယ်တော်၏ ပဋိညာဉ်တရားကို စွန့်ပစ်၍၊ ယဇ်ပလ္လင်တော်တို့ကို ဖြိုဖျက်လျက်၊ ပရောဖက်တော်တို့ကို ထားနှင့် ကွပ်မျက်ကြပါပြီ။ အကျွန်ုပ်တစ်ယောက်တည်းသာ ကျန်ရစ်သော်လည်း၊ အကျွန်ုပ်အသက်ကို သတ်အံ့သောငှါ ရှာကြပါသည်” ဟု ထပ်မံဖြေကြားခဲ့သည်။

“What doest thou here, Elijah?” the voice inquired; and
again the prophet answered, “I have been very
jealous for the Lord God of hosts: because the
children of Israel have forsaken Thy covenant,
thrown down Thine altars, and slain Thy prophets
with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and
they seek my life, to take it away.”

ဣသရေလနိုင်ငံရှိ ဒုစရိုက်ပြုသူတို့သည် အပြစ်ဒဏ်မှ လွတ်မြောက်လိမ့်မည်မဟုတ်ကြောင်း ထာဝရဘုရားသည် ဧလိယအား ပြန်လည်မိန့်ကြားခဲ့သည်။ ရုပ်တုကိုးကွယ်သော နိုင်ငံအား အပြစ်ပေးခြင်းဆိုင်ရာ မြတ်သောရည်ရွယ်ချက်ကို ပြီးမြောက်စေရန် လူတို့ကို အထူးရွေးချယ်ထားခဲ့သည်။ လူတိုင်း စစ်မှန်သော ဘုရားသခင်ဘက်၌ ရပ်တည်ရန် အခွင့်အရေး ရရှိစေရေးအတွက် ပြင်းထန်သော အလုပ်များကို လုပ်ဆောင်ရမည်ဖြစ်သည်။ ဧလိယကိုယ်တိုင်သည်လည်း ဣသရေလပြည်သို့ ပြန်သွားပြီး၊ ပြုပြင်ပြောင်းလဲမှုများ ဆောင်ယူလာရန် တာဝန်ကို အခြားသူများနှင့်အတူ မျှဝေထမ်းဆောင်ရမည်ဖြစ်သည်။

The Lord answered Elijah that the wrongdoers in Israel
should not go unpunished. Men were to be especially chosen to fulfll the divine purpose in
the punishment of the idolatrous kingdom. There
was stern work to be done, that all might be given
opportunity to take their position on the side of
the true God. Elijah himself was to return to Israel, and share with others the burden of bringing
about a reformation.

“သွားလော့၊ ဒမာသက်တောသို့ ပြန်သွားလော့” ဟု ထာဝရဘုရားသည် ဧလိယအား မိန့်တော်မူ၏။ [၁၇၀] “ရောက်သောအခါ၊ ဟာဇေလကို ရှုရိမင်းအဖြစ် ဘိသိက်ပေးလော့။ နိမှိ၏သား ယေဟုကိုလည်း ဣသရေလမင်းအဖြစ် ဘိသိက်ပေးလော့။ အဗေလမဟောလာမြို့သား ရှာဖတ်၏သား ဧလိရှဲကိုလည်း၊ သင့်ကိုယ်စား ပရောဖက်အဖြစ် ဘိသိက်ပေးလော့။ ဟာဇေလလက်မှ လွတ်သောသူကို ယေဟုသတ်ရမည်။ ယေဟုလက်မှ လွတ်သောသူကို ဧလိရှဲသတ်ရမည်။”

“Go,” the Lord commanded Elijah, “return on thy way
to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou
[170] comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria: and
Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be
king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of
Abel-meholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in
thy room. And it shall come to pass, that him that
escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and

him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall
Elisha slay.”

ဧလိယသည် ဣသရေလပြည်တွင် မိမိတစ်ယောက်တည်းသာ စစ်မှန်သော ဘုရားသခင်ကို ကိုးကွယ်သူဟု ထင်မှတ်ခဲ့သည်။ သို့သော် အားလုံး၏ စိတ်နှလုံးကို သိမြင်တော်မူသော အရှင်သည် နှစ်ပေါင်းများစွာ ဘုရားကို စွန့်ခွာနေကြသည့်ကြားမှ ကိုယ်တော်အပေါ် သစ္စာရှိနေသူ အများအပြားရှိသေးကြောင်း ပရောဖက်အား ဖွင့်ပြခဲ့သည်။ “ဗာလရှေ့မှာ ဒူးမထောက်၊ ဗာလကို နမ်းခြင်းမပြုသောသူ ခုနစ်ထောင်ကို ဣသရေလအမျိုးထဲမှာ ငါ့အဖို့ ငါချန်ထားပြီ” ဟု ဘုရားသခင် မိန့်တော်မူ၏။

Elijah had thought that he alone in Israel was a worshiper of the true God. But He who reads the
hearts of all revealed to the prophet that there
were many others who, through the long years of
apostasy, had remained true to Him. “I have left
Me,” God said, “seven thousand in Israel, all the
knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every
mouth which hath not kissed him.”

ဧလိယ၏ ထိုစိတ်ပျက်အားငယ်မှုနှင့် ရှုံးနိမ့်ပုံပေါ်နေသော နေ့ရက်များမှတစ်ဆင့်၊ ယနေ့ခေတ် မှန်ကန်ရာလမ်းမှ လွဲချော်နေသော ဘုရားသခင်၏ ကျွန်များအတွက် အလွန်တန်ဖိုးရှိသော သင်ခန်းစာများစွာကို ရယူနိုင်ပါသည်။ ယနေ့ခေတ်တွင် ပျံ့နှံ့နေသော ဘုရားမဲ့ဝါဒသည် ပရောဖက်၏လက်ထက်တွင် ဣသရေလပြည်၌ ပျံ့နှံ့ခဲ့သော အခြေအနေနှင့် ဆင်တူပါသည်။ ဘုရားသခင်ထက် လူကို ပို၍ချီးမြှောက်ခြင်း၊ လူကြိုက်များသော ခေါင်းဆောင်များကို ချီးမွမ်းခြင်း၊ လောကစည်းစိမ်ကို ကိုးကွယ်ခြင်းနှင့် သိပ္ပံပညာ၏ သွန်သင်ချက်များကို ဗျာဒိတ်တော် သမ္မာတရားများထက် အလေးထားခြင်းများအားဖြင့်၊ ယနေ့ လူအများအပြားသည် ဗာလနောက်သို့ လိုက်နေကြသည်။ သံသယနှင့် မယုံကြည်ခြင်းတို့သည် စိတ်နှလုံးအပေါ် ဆိုးဝါးသော လွှမ်းမိုးမှုများကို ပြုလုပ်နေကြပြီး၊ လူအများအပြားသည် ဘုရားသခင်၏ ဗျာဒိတ်တော်များအစား လူတို့၏ သီအိုရီများဖြင့် အစားထိုးနေကြသည်။ လူသားတို့၏ ဆင်ခြင်တုံတရားကို နှုတ်ကပတ်တော်၏ သွန်သင်ချက်များထက် မြှင့်တင်ရမည့်အချိန်သို့ ရောက်ပြီဟု လူသိရှင်ကြား သွန်သင်နေကြသည်။ ဖြောင့်မတ်ခြင်း၏ မြတ်သောစံနှုန်းဖြစ်သော ဘုရားသခင်၏ ပညတ်တော်သည် အကျိုးသက်ရောက်မှုမရှိဟု ကြေညာနေကြသည်။ [၁၇၁] သမ္မာတရား၏ ရန်သူသည် လှည့်ဖြားတတ်သော တန်ခိုးဖြင့် လူသားတို့၏ ပျော်ရွှင်မှုနှင့် ကယ်တင်ခြင်းအတွက် ပြဋ္ဌာန်းထားသော အရာများကို မေ့လျော့သွားစေရန်နှင့် ဘုရားသခင် ရှိရမည့်နေရာတွင် လူတို့ဖန်တီးထားသော အဖွဲ့အစည်းများကို အစားထိုးရန် လုပ်ဆောင်နေသည်။

From Elijah’s experience during those days of discouragement and apparent defeat there are many
lessons to be drawn, lessons invaluable to the servants of God in this age, marked as it is by general
departure from right. The apostasy prevailing today is similar to that which in the prophet’s day
overspread Israel. In the exaltation of the human
above the divine, in the praise of popular leaders,
in the worship of mammon, and in the placing of
the teachings of science above the truths of revelation, multitudes today are following after Baal.
Doubt and unbelief are exercising their baleful
influence over mind and heart, and many are substituting for the oracles of God the theories of
men. It is publicly taught that we have reached a
time when human reason should be exalted above
the teachings of the Word. The law of God, the
divine standard of righteousness, is declared to
be of no effect. The enemy of all truth is working [171]
with deceptive power to cause men and women
to place human institutions where God should
be, and to forget that which was ordained for the
happiness and salvation of mankind.

သို့သော် ဤကဲ့သို့ ပျံ့နှံ့နေသော ဘုရားမဲ့ဝါဒသည် လူတိုင်းတွင်တော့ မဟုတ်ပါ။ လောကတွင်ရှိသမျှ လူတိုင်းသည် တရားမဲ့ပြီး အပြစ်ရှိသူများ မဟုတ်ကြပါ၊ အားလုံးက ရန်သူ့ဘက်၌ ရပ်တည်နေကြသည်မဟုတ်ပါ။ ဘုရားသခင်၌ ဗာလရှေ့တွင် ဒူးမထောက်သော သူပေါင်း ထောင်နှင့်ချီ၍ ရှိပါသေးသည်။ သူတို့သည် ခရစ်တော်နှင့် ပညတ်တော်အကြောင်းကို ပိုမိုသိရှိလိုကြပြီး၊ အပြစ်နှင့် သေခြင်း၏ အုပ်စိုးမှု ပြီးဆုံးရန် ယေရှု မကြာမီ ကြွလာလိမ့်မည်ဟု မျှော်လင့်ချက်မဲ့သည့်ကြားမှ မျှော်လင့်နေကြသူများ ဖြစ်သည်။ ထို့ပြင် ဗာလကို မသိနားမလည်ဘဲ ကိုးကွယ်နေကြသော်လည်း ဘုရားသခင်၏ ဝိညာဉ်တော်သည် ဆက်လက် စည်းရုံးနေဆဲဖြစ်သောသူများစွာလည်း ရှိပါသည်။

Yet this apostasy, widespread as it has come to be, is not
universal. Not all in the world are lawless and

sinful; not all have taken sides with the enemy.
God has many thousands who have not bowed the
knee to Baal, many who long to understand more
fully in regard to Christ and the law, many who
are hoping against hope that Jesus will come soon
to end the reign of sin and death. And there are
many who have been worshiping Baal ignorantly,

but with whom the Spirit of God is still striving.

These need the personal help of those who have learned
to know God and the power of His word. In such a
time as this, every child of God should be actively
engaged in helping others. As those who have an
understanding of Bible truth try to seek out the
men and women who are longing for light, angels
of God will attend them. And where angels go,
none need fear to move forward. As a result of
the faithful efforts of consecrated workers, many
will be turned from idolatry to the worship of the
living God. Many will cease to pay homage to
man-made institutions and will take their stand
fearlessly on the side of God and His law.

Much depends on the unceasing activity of those who
are true and loyal, and for this reason Satan puts
forth every possible effort to thwart the divine purpose to be wrought out through the obedient. He
[172] causes some to lose sight of their high and holy
mission, and to become satisfed with the pleasures of this life. He leads them to settle down
at ease, or, for the sake of greater worldly advantages, to remove from places where they might
be a power for good. Others he causes to flee
in discouragement from duty, because of opposition or persecution. But all such are regarded by
Heaven with tenderest pity. To every child of God
whose voice the enemy of souls had succeeded in
silencing, the question is addressed, “What doest

thou here?” I commissioned you to go into all the
world and preach the gospel, to prepare a people
for the day of God. Why are you here? Who sent
you?

The joy set before Christ, the joy that sustained Him
through sacrifce and suffering, was the joy of
seeing sinners saved. This should be the joy of
every follower of His, the spur to his ambition.
Those who realize, even in a limited degree, what
redemption means to them and to their fellow
men, will comprehend in some measure the vast
needs of humanity. Their hearts will be moved
to compassion as they see the moral and spiritual destitution of thousands who are under the
shadow of a terrible doom, in comparison with
which physical suffering fades into nothingness.

Of families, as of individuals, the question is asked,
“What doest thou here?” In many churches there
are families well instructed in the truths of God’s
word, who might widen the sphere of their influence by moving to places in need of the ministry
they are capable of giving. God calls for Christian
families to go into the dark places of the earth and
work wisely and perseveringly for those who are
enshrouded in spiritual gloom. To answer this call [173]
requires self-sacrifce. While many are waiting
to have every obstacle removed, souls are dying,
without hope and without God. For the sake of
worldly advantage, for the sake of acquiring scientifc knowledge, men are willing to venture into
pestilential regions and to endure hardship and
privation. Where are those who are willing to
do as much for the sake of telling others of the
Saviour?

If, under trying circumstances, men of spiritual power,
pressed beyond measure, become discouraged
and desponding, if at times they see nothing desirable in life, that they should choose it, this is
nothing strange or new. Let all such remember
that one of the mightiest of the prophets fled for
his life before the rage of an infuriated woman.
A fugitive, weary and travel-worn, bitter disappointment crushing his spirits, he asked that he
might die. But it was when hope was gone and
his lifework seemed threatened with defeat, that
he learned one of the most precious lessons of
his life. In the hour of his greatest weakness he
learned the need and the possibility of trusting
God under circumstances the most forbidding.

Those who, while spending their life energies in self-sacrifcing labor, are tempted to give way to despondency and distrust, may gather courage from the
experience of Elijah. God’s watchful care, His
love, His power, are especially manifest in behalf of His servants whose zeal is misunderstood
or unappreciated, whose counsels and reproofs
are slighted, and whose efforts toward reform are
repaid with hatred and opposition.

[174] It is at the time of greatest weakness that Satan assails the
soul with the fercest temptations. It was thus that
he hoped to prevail over the Son of God; for by
this policy he had gained many victories over man.
When the will power weakened and faith failed,
then those who had stood long and valiantly for
the right yielded to temptation. Moses, wearied
with forty years of wandering and unbelief, lost
for a moment his hold on Infnite Power. He failed
just on the borders of the Promised Land. So
with Elijah. He who had maintained his trust in
Jehovah during the years of drought and famine,
“What Doest Thou Here?” 125
he who had stood undaunted before Ahab, he who
throughout that trying day on Carmel had stood
before the whole nation of Israel the sole witness
to the true God, in a moment of weariness allowed
the fear of death to overcome his faith in God.

And so it is today. When we are encompassed with
doubt, perplexed by circumstances, or afflicted
by poverty or distress, Satan seeks to shake our
confdence in Jehovah. It is then that he arrays
before us our mistakes and tempts us to distrust
God, to question His love. He hopes to discourage
the soul and break our hold on God.

Those who, standing in the forefront of the conflict, are
impelled by the Holy Spirit to do a special work,
will frequently feel a reaction when the pressure
is removed. Despondency may shake the most
heroic faith and weaken the most steadfast will.
But God understands, and He still pities and loves.
He reads the motives and the purposes of the heart.

တာဝန်ကြီးသော နေရာများတွင် ရှိနေသူများအတွက်သာမက၊ စမ်းသပ်ခြင်း ခံရချိန်တွင် ဘုရားသခင်ကို မည်သို့ ယုံကြည်ကိုးစားရမည်ကို အသစ်ပြန်လည် သင်ယူခဲ့သော ဧလိယ၏ အတွေ့အကြုံမှာ သင်ခန်းစာတစ်ခု ဖြစ်သည်။ ဧလိယ၏ ခွန်အားဖြစ်ခဲ့သော အရှင်သည်၊ မည်မျှပင် အားနည်းပါစေ ကိုယ်တော်၏ ရုန်းကန်နေရသော သားသမီးတိုင်းကို ထောက်မရန် အင်အားရှိတော်မူ၏။ လူတိုင်းထံမှ သစ္စာရှိမှုကို ကိုယ်တော် မျှော်လင့်တော်မူပြီး၊ လူတိုင်းအား လိုအပ်ချက်နှင့်အညီ တန်ခိုးကို ပေးသနားတော်မူ၏။ လူသည် မိမိ၏ကိုယ်ပိုင်ခွန်အားဖြင့် အားအင်မရှိသော်လည်း၊ ဘုရားသခင်၏ တန်ခိုးတော်အားဖြင့် မကောင်းမှုကို အောင်နိုင်ရန်နှင့် အခြားသူများကို အောင်မြင်ရန် ကူညီရာတွင် အားကြီးနိုင်ပါသည်။ ဘုရားသခင်ကို မိမိ၏ ခိုလှုံရာအဖြစ် ပြုလုပ်သူအပေါ် စာတန်သည် မည်သည့်အခါမျှ အခွင့်အရေး မရနိုင်ပါ။

To wait patiently, to trust when everything looks
dark, is the lesson that the leaders in God’s work
need to learn. Heaven will not fail them in their
day of adversity. Nothing is apparently more help- [175]
less, yet really more invincible, than the soul that
feels its nothingness and relies wholly on God.
Not alone for men in positions of large responsibility is
the lesson of Elijah’s experience in learning anew
how to trust God in the hour of trial. He who
was Elijah’s strength is strong to uphold every
struggling child of His, no matter how weak. Of
everyone He expects loyalty, and to everyone He
grants power according to the need. In his own
strength man is strengthless; but in the might of
God he may be strong to overcome evil and to
help others to overcome. Satan can never gain

advantage of him who makes God his defense.

“အကယ်စင်စစ် ထာဝရဘုရား၌သာ ဖြောင့်မတ်ခြင်းနှင့် ခွန်အားရှိသည်ဟု လူတို့သည် ဆိုကြလိမ့်မည်။” ဟေရှာယ ၄၅:၂၄။

“Surely, shall one say, in the Lord have I righteousness and strength.” Isaiah 45:24.

ခရစ်ယာန်ချင်းဖြစ်သူတို့၊ စာတန်သည် သင်၏ အားနည်းချက်ကို သိသည်၊ ထို့ကြောင့် ယေရှုကို ဖက်တွယ်ထားပါ။ ဘုရားသခင်၏ ချစ်ခြင်းမေတ္တာ၌ တည်နေခြင်းဖြင့် သင်သည် စမ်းသပ်မှုတိုင်းကို ခံနိုင်ရည်ရှိပါလိမ့်မည်။ ခရစ်တော်၏ ဖြောင့်မတ်ခြင်းတစ်ခုတည်းကသာ လောကကို လွှမ်းမိုးနေသော ဒုစရိုက်ရေစီးကြောင်းကို ဆန့်ကျင်ရန် သင့်အား ခွန်အားပေးနိုင်ပါသည်။ သင်၏ အတွေ့အကြုံထဲသို့ ယုံကြည်ခြင်းကို ယူဆောင်လာပါ။ ယုံကြည်ခြင်းသည် ဝန်ထုပ်တိုင်းကို ပေါ့ပါးစေပြီး ပင်ပန်းနွမ်းနယ်မှုတိုင်းကို သက်သာစေသည်။ ယခု နားမလည်နိုင်သော ဘုရားသခင်၏ လမ်းပြမှုများကို ဘုရားသခင်အပေါ် ဆက်လက် ယုံကြည်ကိုးစားခြင်းဖြင့် သင်ဖြေရှင်းနိုင်ပါလိမ့်မည်။ ကိုယ်တော် ညွှန်ပြသော လမ်းကြောင်း၌ ယုံကြည်ခြင်းဖြင့် လျှောက်လှမ်းပါ။ စမ်းသပ်မှုများ လာလိမ့်မည်၊ သို့သော် ရှေ့သို့သွားပါ။ ဤအရာသည် သင်၏ ယုံကြည်ခြင်းကို ခိုင်ခံ့စေပြီး သင့်ကို ဝန်ဆောင်မှုအတွက် အသင့်ဖြစ်စေပါလိမ့်မည်။ သန့်ရှင်းသော သမိုင်းမှတ်တမ်းများကို ရေးသားထားခြင်းမှာ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ ဖတ်ရှုပြီး အံ့သြရုံသက်သက်အတွက် မဟုတ်ဘဲ၊ ရှေးကာလက ဘုရားသခင်၏ ကျွန်များ၌ လုပ်ဆောင်ခဲ့သော ထိုယုံကြည်ခြင်းမျိုးသည် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့၌လည်း လုပ်ဆောင်နိုင်ရန် ဖြစ်သည်။ ယုံကြည်ခြင်းရှိသော စိတ်နှလုံးများသည် ကိုယ်တော်၏ တန်ခိုးတော် စီးဆင်းရာ လမ်းကြောင်းများ ဖြစ်လာသည့် နေရာတိုင်းတွင် ထာဝရဘုရားသည် ယခုလည်း ထူးခြားသောနည်းလမ်းဖြင့် လုပ်ဆောင်တော်မူလိမ့်မည်။

Fellow Christian, Satan knows your weakness; therefore cling to Jesus. Abiding in God’s love, you
may stand every test. The righteousness of Christ
alone can give you power to stem the tide of
evil that is sweeping over the world. Bring faith
into your experience. Faith lightens every burden, relieves every weariness. Providences that
are now mysterious you may solve by continued
trust in God. Walk by faith in the path He marks
out. Trials will come, but go forward. This will
strengthen your faith and ft you for service. The
records of sacred history are written, not merely
that we may read and wonder, but that the same
faith which wrought in God’s servants of old may
work in us. In no less marked manner will the
Lord work now, wherever there are hearts of faith
to be channels of His power.

[၁၇၆] ပေတရုအား မိန့်တော်မူသကဲ့သို့ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့အားလည်း “စာတန်သည် သင်တို့ကို ဂျုံဆန်ကဲ့သို့ ချစကာနှင့် ချစိမ့်သောငှါ အခွင့်ရပြီ။ သို့သော်လည်း သင်၏ ယုံကြည်ခြင်း မပျက်စေခြင်းငှါ၊ သင့်အဘို့ ငါဆုတောင်းပြီ” (လုကာ ၂၂:၃၁၊ ၃၂) ဟု မိန့်တော်မူ၏။ ခရစ်တော်သည် ကိုယ်တော် အသေခံခဲ့သော သူများကို မည်သည့်အခါမျှ စွန့်ခွာမည်မဟုတ်ပါ။ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် ကိုယ်တော့်ကို စွန့်ခွာသွားပြီး စုံစမ်းခြင်းများ၏ လွှမ်းမိုးခြင်းကို ခံရနိုင်သော်လည်း၊ ခရစ်တော်သည် မိမိ၏အသက်ဖြင့် ရွေးနှုတ်ထားသော သူတစ်ဦးထံမှ မည်သည့်အခါမျှ မျက်နှာလွှဲမည်မဟုတ်ပါ။ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့၏ ဝိညာဉ်မျက်စိ ပွင့်လင်းလာပါက၊ နှိပ်စက်ညှဉ်းပန်းခံရပြီး ဝမ်းနည်းပူဆွေးမှုများဖြင့် လေးလံနေကာ စိတ်ပျက်အားငယ်လျက် သေလုနီးပါး ဖြစ်နေသော စိတ်ဝိညာဉ်များကို မြင်တွေ့ရပါလိမ့်မည်။ ထိုစုံစမ်းခြင်းခံနေရသူများကို ကူညီရန်၊ သူတို့ကို ဝိုင်းရံထားသော မကောင်းဆိုးဝါး ဗိုလ်ခြေများကို တွန်းလှန်ဖယ်ရှားပေးရန်နှင့် သူတို့၏ခြေဖဝါးကို ခိုင်မာသော အုတ်မြစ်ပေါ်တွင် တင်ပေးရန်အတွက် ကောင်းကင်တမန်များ အလျင်အမြန် ပျံသန်းလာသည်ကို ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ မြင်တွေ့ရပါလိမ့်မည်။ စစ်တပ်နှစ်ခုကြားတွင် ဖြစ်ပွားနေသော တိုက်ပွဲများသည် ဤလောက၏ စစ်တပ်များ တိုက်ခိုက်နေသော တိုက်ပွဲများကဲ့သို့ပင် အစစ်အမှန်ဖြစ်ပြီး၊ ဝိညာဉ်ရေးရာ တိုက်ပွဲ၏ ရလဒ်အပေါ်တွင် ထာဝရ ကံကြမ္မာများ မူတည်နေပါသည်။

To us, as to Peter, the word is spoken, “Satan hath de-
[176] sired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
but I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not.”
Luke 22:31, 32. Christ will never abandon those
for whom He has died. We may leave Him and
be overwhelmed with temptation, but Christ can
never turn from one for whom He has paid the
ransom of His own life. Could our spiritual vision
be quickened, we should see souls bowed under
oppression and burdened with grief, pressed as a
cart beneath sheaves, and ready to die in discouragement. We should see angels flying quickly to
the aid of these tempted ones, forcing back the
hosts of evil that encompass them, and placing
their feet on the sure foundation. The battles waging between the two armies are as real as those
“What Doest Thou Here?” 127
fought by the armies of this world, and on the
issue of the spiritual conflict eternal destinies depend.

ပရောဖက် ယေဇကျေလ၏ ဗျာဒိတ်ရူပါရုံတွင် ခေရုဗိမ်တို့၏ အတောင်များအောက်၌ လက်တစ်ဖက်ကို တွေ့ရှိရသည်။ ဤအရာသည် အောင်မြင်မှုကို ပေးသည်မှာ ဘုရားသခင်၏ တန်ခိုးတော်ဖြစ်ကြောင်း ဘုရားသခင်၏ကျွန်များကို သင်ကြားပေးရန် ဖြစ်သည်။ ဘုရားသခင်က ကိုယ်တော့်တမန်များအဖြစ် ခန့်အပ်ထားသူများသည် ကိုယ်တော့်အလုပ်သည် သူတို့အပေါ်တွင်သာ မူတည်နေသည်ဟု မထင်မှတ်သင့်ပါ။ အကန့်အသတ်ရှိသော လူသားများကို ဤတာဝန်ယူမှု ဝန်ထုပ်ကို ထမ်းဆောင်ရန် ပစ်မထားခဲ့ပါ။ အိပ်ပျော်ခြင်းမရှိဘဲ မိမိ၏ ရည်ရွယ်ချက်များ ပြီးမြောက်အောင် မြင်ရန် စဉ်ဆက်မပြတ် လုပ်ဆောင်နေသော အရှင်သည် ကိုယ်တော့်အလုပ်ကို ရှေ့သို့ ဆက်လက် ဆောင်ရွက်ပါလိမ့်မည်။ ကိုယ်တော်သည် ဆိုးယုတ်သောသူတို့၏ ရည်ရွယ်ချက်များကို ပျက်ပြားစေပြီး ကိုယ်တော့်လူမျိုးအပေါ် မကောင်းကြံစည်သူတို့၏ အကြံအစည်များကို ရှုပ်ထွေးစေပါလိမ့်မည်။ ကောင်းကင်ဗိုလ်ခြေအရှင် ထာဝရဘုရားဖြစ်သော ရှင်ဘုရင်သည် ခေရုဗိမ်တို့အကြားတွင် ထိုင်တော်မူပြီး၊ လူမျိုးအချင်းချင်း ခရုန်းဗန်းတိုက်ခိုက်နေကြစဉ်တွင် ကိုယ်တော့်သားသမီးများကို ဆက်လက် စောင့်ရှောက်နေတော်မူ၏။ ရှင်ဘုရင်တို့၏ ခံတပ်များ ပြိုလဲသွားသောအခါ၊ အမျက်တော် မြားများသည် ရန်သူတို့၏ နှလုံးကို ဖောက်ထွင်းသွားသောအခါ၊ ကိုယ်တော်၏လူမျိုးသည် ကိုယ်တော့်လက်တော်ထဲတွင် လုံခြုံပါလိမ့်မည်။

In the vision of the prophet Ezekiel there was the appearance of a hand beneath the wings of the cherubim. This is to teach God’s servants that it is
divine power that gives success. Those whom
God employs as His messengers are not to feel
that His work is dependent on them. Finite beings
are not left to carry this burden of responsibility. He who slumbers not, who is continually
at work for the accomplishment of His designs,
will carry forward His work. He will thwart the
purposes of wicked men and will bring to confusion the counsels of those who plot mischief
against His people. He who is the King, the Lord
of hosts, sitteth between the cherubim, and amidst
the strife and tumult of nations He guards His children still. When the strongholds of kings shall be
overthrown, when the arrows of wrath shall strike
through the hearts of His enemies, His people will
be safe in His hands.
